Fashion house Maison Margiela is shadowed with more mysteries than the Bermuda Triangle. The brand was founded in 1988 and became famous for its well known founder's anonymity. Martin Margiela gave new life to ball gowns leftovers, leather butcher aprons and many other things by recreating them into fashion garments. Every MM line has it's own number, for example 0 is for artisanal, 1 is for womenswear, 10 - menswear, 11 - accessories for women, 22 - accessories for men, etc. By the way KM20 was the first Russian store representing Maison Margiela Artisanal. Besides clothes, the brand also produces objects like photo wallpapers and pens (can be found in line 13). Unfortunately Martin Margiela himself had to leave the brand in 2008. Since the end of last year scandalous and over-the-top designer John Galliano took the place of creative director at Maison Margiela.
Artisanal is a couture line by Maison Margiela under which its mysterious founder formed the fashion house’s codes and trained his skills as a designer. Thanks to exactly this line, garments made the brand famous were born. Those are dresses and suits made of baseball gloves, butcher’s robes and other daily stuff like wigs. KM20 is the only store presented Artisanal in Russia. There are key pieces from Artisanal collections made by Martin Margiela himself in our archive. True fashion lovers, don’t miss them!
